Rhine water level in Netherlands hits record low in 160 years

The water level of the Rhine River in the Netherlands has fallen to its lowest point in 160 years, according to the NRC newspaper, citing data from the State Department of Roads and Water Management. At Lobith, where the Rhine crosses the German-Dutch border, the water level dropped to an absolute historical minimum of 6.09 meters relative to the Amsterdam Ordnance Datum (NAP), the countrys standard zero reference level.
