A significant wave of website shutdowns has hit Germany following a dire warning about critical vulnerabilities in the PHP programming language, upon which much of the global internet relies. As reported by broadcaster NTV, proactive measures have led numerous institutions to take their portals offline to avert potential hacking attempts. This includes major hospitals like Berlins Charit, several universities, and key administrative bodies such as the Federal Ministry of Construction, the state government of Baden-Wrttemberg, and the city of Mainz. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has officially assessed the threat as extremely high, assigning an orange alert level, urging immediate response actions to prevent operational disruptions.
